Representative Adam Schiff, a prominent figure in the Democratic Party and current candidate for the US Senate in California, made headlines recenlty with his bold call for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the upcoming presidential race. Schiff’s statement is significant as it makes him the highest-profile Democrat to publicly suggest Biden step aside, especially following the recent failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Schiff, known for his role as an impeachment manager during Trump’s presidency and his close ties with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, emphasized the importance of Biden making his own decision. However, he also stressed the necessity of new leadership to defeat Trump in the next election. “While the choice to withdraw from the campaign is President Biden’s alone, I believe it is time for him to pass the torch. And in doing so, secure his legacy of leadership by allowing us to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election,” Schiff said in a statement.
Schiff praised Biden’s leadership but warned that the nation is at a pivotal point. He expressed doubts about Biden’s ability to defeat Trump, stating, “A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November.”
This call comes on the heels of Biden’s widely criticized performance in the CNN debate in June. At that time, Schiff had only suggested that Biden should carefully consider the future of his campaign. Now, his stance is much clearer and more direct.
The Biden campaign responded to Schiff’s call by referencing a letter from the president dated July 8, in which Biden reaffirmed his commitment to the race and highlighted support from key Democratic lawmakers, including Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Nanette Barragan.
However, there’s also a video from March that’s surfaced that shows just how much of a bootlicker Schiff is.
Here is a video of Rep. Schiff making a public spectacle of Robert Hur chastizing him for stating the obvious…That Biden was in a poor mental state.
In March, Schiff made a public show of criticizing Robert Hur for including Biden’s poor mental state in his report. Almost exactly 4 months later, Schiff calls Biden to drop out over his poor mental state. pic.twitter.com/NDhNUnBQJZ https://t.co/2lOzOkA4nI
