Officials inside the Biden administration are tripping all over themselves after a lie that they created is going down like a ball of flames.
A “senior defense official” said during a briefing, a “PRC government surveillance balloons transited the continental United States briefly at least three times during the prior administration and once that we know of at the beginning of this administration, but never for this duration of time.”
Senior Trump officials refuted the claim immediately.

Then Gen. Glen VanHerck, head of NORAD, was asked about the incursion of balloons during the Trump administration. The General said that it is his “responsibility to detect threats to North America. I will tell you that we did not detect those threats. And that’s a domain awareness that we have to figure out. But I don’t want to go in further detail.”
He added that the intel community informed NORAD of the balloons “after the fact.” He said they assessed “those threats to additional means of collection from additional means and made us aware of those balloons that were previously approaching North America.”
In other words, NORAD has no record of these incursions happening while former President Trump was in office. VanHerck hints that either the intelligence community has better tools than he has to track threats (which would obviously irk him), or they made it up.
Gen. Glen VanHerck, head of NORAD, takes questions on Chinese spy balloon. Was asked about previous balloons administration says crossed US in Trump years. Has very little to say. Then asked: If you didn’t know about them then, how do you know now? Has even less to say. pic.twitter.com/fA4Ri2Q1Up

The gaslighting from anonymous sources that used to work during the Trump years isn’t working anymore. Plus, these balloons are enormous. If one can be seen in Montana, you darn well know if one were floating over Florida it would have been seen.
Now, what should happen is Republicans get these “defense officials” under oath and find out what really happened. Boy, that would be a sight.
