On Thursday night, President Joe Biden took to the stage in front of Liberty Hall in Philadelphia, that was billed as an appearance in which he would attempt to claim that the “soul of the nation” belonged to only those who are politically aligned with him.
We always knew that it was going to be divisive, sure, that seems to be where the White House is going with this “Dark Brandon” schtick. But what we didn’t expect was for Biden to be standing in front of two marines, a couple of flags, and one of the most Hellish lighting set-ups in political history, let alone in the United States.
Social media lit up as the event unfolded, with many observers decrying the imagery as authoritarian…or worse.
CNN’s Jeff Zeleny said, “There’s nothing unusual or wrong with a President delivering a political speech — it’s inherent in the job description — but doing it against a backdrop of two Marines standing at attention and the Marine Band is a break with White House traditions.”
“Standing in front of a hellish red background Biden called half the country, the MAGA Republicans ‘threats’ & ‘clear and present dangers,'” said former Trump White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. “Then he says, ’empathy is the fuel of democracy-the willingness to see each other not as enemies but as fellow Americans…’!!!”
Other Americans saw this as a way for Biden to cash in on the mild Twitter craze surrounding the left’s fictional “Dark Brandon” character, often portrayed as the angry version of Joe Biden…sometimes with laser beams shooting from his eyes.

The speech’s divisive rhetoric comes just days after Biden threatened to use F-15’s to quell any sort of MAGA uprising.
