The two tiered justice system is at it again!
Today, we are discussing the latest news about Samuel Brinton, the former Biden Energy Department official who is facing luggage theft charges. According to reports, Brinton has agreed to undergo a mental health evaluation as part of an adult diversion program for the felony baggage theft case that he is facing in Minnesota.
Brinton was originally charged with felony theft in two separate cases last year for allegedly stealing luggage from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The charges in Minnesota and Las Vegas were both filed in December of 2021.
As part of the adult diversion program, Brinton is required to apologize to the victim, return any stolen property, and complete community service. If he successfully completes the program, the case against him could be dismissed altogether.
This news comes after Brinton pleaded “no contest” last week after being charged in December for allegedly stealing luggage at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. It now appears as though he could have the felony charge in Minnesota dropped.
A report from FOX 9 reported that Brinton was seen at the baggage carousel removing a navy blue hard sided roller bag. The cameras caught the disgraced official remove the baggage tag then put in their handbag.
From FOX 9:
Police were able to track Brinton’s movement throughout the airport and learned they were staying at the InterContinental St. Paul Riverfront hotel.
When Airport Police confronted Brinton and asked them if Brinton took anything that did not belong to them, Brinton replied, “Not that I know of.”
But two hours later, Brinton called Airport Police and apologized for not being “completely honest.” Brinton had placed the clothes in the bag, worth an estimated $2,325 in the drawers of the hotel room.
According to media reports the Biden Administration Brinton was released by the Department of Energy in December.
