Dem Arrested After Attack On Rep. Gaetz

A woman was arrested after allegedly attacking Rep. Matt Gatez in Tallahassee.

In a social media post, Walton County Sheriff’s office confirmed the arrest at an event in Miramar Beach on April 30, 3023.

Selena Chambers, 41, was arrested after deputies learned that she threw a glass of wine at Representative Gaetz after shouting profane language at him.

“We cannot allow an environment where you can throw things at elected officials because you don’t like them,” said Sheriff Adkinson. “No matter your political affiliation, this is not the way to conduct yourself and will not be tolerated in Walton County,” Sheriff Adkinson said.

According to a report from FOX 4 witnesses reported to law enforcement that they heard a woman curse at the congressman and then she threw her drink at him.

“I will never allow the safety of Northwest Floridians to be compromised. I will be pressing charges against this individual in order to uphold the civility our community deserves. Thank you to the Walton County Sheriff’s office for taking swift action,” Rep. Gaetz said.

The defense attorney for Chambers, Matthew A. Karp, told the Associated Press that it was all Gaetz fault.

“This investigation has initially shown Rep. Gaetz to have been both an aggressor and agitator, and we look forward to taking his deposition,” Karp said. “My client, Selena Chambers, maintains her innocence in this matter, and we intend to vigorously defend against the allegations of Rep. Gaetz.”

Karp statements directly contradict what Chamers told deputies on the scene.

The woman told police that she had been drinking at the event when she tripped and spilled her wine on the Gaetz. She admitted that she did recognize the congressman before she spilled wine on him.
