it’s easy to be pessimistic, but in reality, conservatism is winning.
Christopher Rufo, a filmmaker and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, is one of six new members of the New College board of trustees that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed.
Rufo was also behind DeSantis’s bill that got Disney in hot water.
I’m proud to stand with @GovRonDeSantis and support his new initiative to abolish DEI bureaucracies and restore colorblind equality to Florida’s public universities. pic.twitter.com/B4x9g3epmZ

On February 2, 2023, Rufo released a report that Florida State University has adopted a radical DEI program (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) that divides Americans along a “matrix of oppression,” castigates Christians for their “Christian privilege,” and offers racially segregated scholarships that deliberately bar white students from applying.
Officially, Florida State administrators have claimed in a recent report to Governor Ron DeSantis that they support 23 separate DEI initiatives. But I have obtained documents through public records and FOIA requests showing that the ideology has embedded itself everywhere. pic.twitter.com/lr5I8EmSFv

The training claims that “whites” are the racial group at the top of the “matrix of oppression,” guilty of the “systematic subordination of members of targeted racial groups who have relatively little power.” By definition, no other group can be racist—the problem is “Whiteness.” pic.twitter.com/BhLab4EfUd

FSU even administers scholarships that explicitly exclude white students. The Delores Auzenne Assistantship, for example, is designated solely for “African-American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, and Native-American” grad students—no European-Americans need apply. pic.twitter.com/dhoIuiYQDH

In less than 24 hours Florida State backed off the program.
Following my reporting, Florida State University has released a statement backing away from its radical DEI programming, promising that it “has been reviewing [its] programs to ensure they reflect the values of a state university.” https://t.co/znhkaq8Ruh

The left is freaking out and they have no idea what to do.
Republican politicians are now openly calling for the termination of every public university president in Florida without cause and against the will of the students and faculty.
What happened at @NewCollegeofFL yesterday should shock every Floridian. #yourcampusisnext pic.twitter.com/PJCjrVrrrb
