Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has intensified her public confrontation with former President Barack Obama, following his dismissal of her recent disclosures as “bizarre.”
Speaking from the White House briefing room Tuesday, Gabbard doubled down on her explosive claim that Obama, along with former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, and other senior officials, orchestrated a false intelligence narrative in 2016 to undermine Donald Trump’s presidency.

“We have referred and will continue to refer all of these documents to the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate the criminal implications of this,” Gabbard said. When pressed by a reporter on whether that referral included Obama himself, she replied bluntly: “Correct.”
According to Gabbard, declassified documents provide “multiple pieces of evidence and intelligence” showing that Obama led the effort to manufacture a false assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election — claims she has formally referred to the DOJ for investigation.

When asked whether she believed Obama’s actions amounted to treason, Gabbard stopped short of an outright accusation but left little doubt about the gravity of her view.
“I’m leaving the criminal charges to the Department of Justice. I am not an attorney,” she said. “But … when you look at the intent behind creating a fake manufactured intelligence document … the expressed intent and what followed afterward can only be described as a years-long coup and a treasonous conspiracy against the American people, our Republic, and an attempt to undermine President Trump’s administration.”
The criminal referral, announced Monday, marks a rare and direct escalation against a former president by a sitting intelligence chief. Gabbard has said she will continue declassifying additional documents in the coming weeks to provide transparency on what she describes as a “manufactured hoax” meant to delegitimize Trump’s 2016 victory.
