Once he left office, many conservatives were unhappy that former President Trump didn’t pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Many felt he was doing it to keep the establishment off his back following the events on that January.
Then, on May 28, 2024, Trump said that he would give “very serious consideration” to pardoning Julian Assange should he be re-elected.
Independent journalist Tim Pool asked Trump during an interview if he would pardon Assange.
“Well, I’m going to talk about that today, and we’re going to give it very serious consideration. And we’re going to have a couple of other things to say in the speech that I think you’re going to love,” Trump said.

Well there’s been an update, Trump isn’t going to get the chance.
The Biden administration cut a deal.
Assange has agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiring to obtain and disclose information about national defense. This plea is set to occur in Saipan, a U.S. territory within the Northern Mariana Islands. However, it’s worth noting that the plea needs judicial approval before it becomes official.
Assange had spent five years in a British prison to avoid extradition to the U.S. Prior to that, he took refuge for seven years in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London while Swedish authorities sought his arrest due to rape allegations that turned out to be bogus.
In the aftermath of this deal, Assange’s sentence is expected to be equivalent to the 62 months he already spent in prison in the U.K. His wife, Stella Assange, expressed her delight about the deal on social media, thanking everyone who advocated for his freedom over the years.

Should Trump have pardoned Assange? A lot of people think so.
However, let’s note that Biden – after imposing tariffs on China – is now enacting another Trump policy to gain favor.
It actually shows how desperate Biden is getting. Assange’s leaks put a black eye on the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton.
