It’s been a whirlwind of political events recently. Since the debate, a lot has gone on.
Notably, President Biden has decided to withdraw from running in 2024.
So, in a drastic move, the Democrats decided to pivot away from Biden and there are reports that top Democrats threatened to use the 25th Amendment to remove him if he didn’t step down.
On July 22, Vice President Harris traveled to Delaware and gave remarks at her Delaware election headquarters.
Beating Trump won’t be easy. His favorable rating is higher now than it has ever been (per two polls taken over the weekend).

However, Kamala Harris doesn’t seem to be doing any better than Biden in the polls. It’s been noted that Kamala’s potential triumph over Trump in the general election is currently more of a hopeful aspiration than a reality backed by numbers.
Recent survey averages put Trump ahead of Harris with 48.1 to 46.2 percent. Another poll also shows Trump leading by six points. Trump has a significant lead with independent voters too, standing at 56-44.
Even when considering likely voters, Harris’s performance isn’t promising. In this category, Trump leads by a considerable eight-point margin. And to top it off, even the internal polls by Democrats aren’t delivering good news for Harris.
She’s not doing well with independents:
2024 National GE, Among Independents:
Trump 55% (+14)
Harris 41%

Trump 46% (+14)
Harris 32%

It’s also worth noting that there was a shift in the post-drop-out poll. But even there, Kamala remained two points behind Trump, with 47 to 45 percent.
Admittedly, this is all very new, and Harris isn’t officially the nominee yet.
If things continue to trend the way they are, look for Democrat Senator Mark Kelly’s name to start being mentioned.
