It’s always the same story: the mainstream media trying to prop up the Biden-Harris administration, no matter how badly they stumble. This time, CNN’s Dana Bash is the star of the show, proving once again that objectivity is a quaint, outdated notion for so-called “journalists” like her. During a Sunday interview, she went toe-to-toe with Lara Trump, but Lara wasn’t having any of Bash’s spin about the administration’s handling of Hurricane Helene.
Now, what’s got everyone scratching their heads is the Biden-Harris team’s disaster response—or, more accurately, the lack thereof. Despite Bash’s attempts to paint it as a success, no one’s buying it. FEMA is offering a meager $750 per family for those devastated by the storm. That might be enough to cover a hotel room for a few nights, but it’s a drop in the bucket for folks who’ve lost their homes, their livelihoods, and everything they own. Yet, somehow, the administration has managed to burn through $650 million this fiscal year on their border crisis, thanks to policies that have turned our southern border into a free-for-all.
Lara Trump called out this glaring mismatch, and Bash, true to form, just couldn’t let her finish a sentence without swooping in with some “clarification.” When Lara pointed out the absurdity of FEMA running out of disaster funds while millions are funneled into housing for migrants, Bash jumped in with a classic media deflection: “That’s a separate tranche of money.” Sure, Dana. Thanks for pointing out that the funds meant for non-citizens vastly outstrip those available to actual American citizens facing disaster.
Lara wasn’t about to let Bash get away with her spin. She pointed out that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas himself admitted FEMA is running out of cash for hurricane relief. And, with another hurricane barreling toward Florida, it’s a pretty good time to ask: why is the federal government so ill-prepared? Why are citizens in Western North Carolina relying more on their neighbors and local efforts than on the aid that our tax dollars are supposed to provide?
Lara Trump forces Dana Bash to admit Democrats allocated a much larger sum of money for illegals than Americans in need of disaster relief post Hurricane Helene:

And let’s not forget the media double standard here. When George W. Bush faced criticism over the federal response to Hurricane Katrina, the media tore him apart. But now, with Biden and Harris clearly fumbling, the same outlets are eager to make excuses. The New York Times even tried to provide cover for FEMA by acknowledging that some funds were “redirected”—as if that makes it any better for the people suffering in North Carolina right now.

So, while Bash and the rest of the corporate media do their best to cover for the administration, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Disaster victims are left waiting while the government claims to be out of cash, all while rolling out the welcome mat for a border crisis of their own making.
It’s no wonder that people like Lara Trump aren’t willing to sit quietly and nod along with the media’s narrative. Good for her for standing up and calling out this mess for what it is: another example of Washington’s misplaced priorities and the media’s desperate attempts to hide the truth.
