A statement from Congress’ attending physician, Dr. Brian Monahan, revealed that examinations of McConnell had concluded the 81-year-old senator was fit to continue his schedule as planned. Monahan noted that “occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration.”
The incident occurred while McConnell was responding to a reporter’s question about whether he intended to run for reelection in 2026. After being prompted with the question again by an aide, McConnell responded to a few other queries before concluding the press conference.
Following the incident, a statement from McConnell’s spokesperson alluded to his momentary freeze and said he had felt “momentarily lightheaded.” Mitch McConnell freezes again during a press conference.

Republicans are looking for answers.
“If he wants to stay as leader, he needs to be transparent and open about his current condition,” said a House Republican who wanted to remain anonymous.
“He’s obviously, you know, a proud man. He’s been a strong leader. He relishes the position,” the second lawmaker who wanted to remain anonymous said. “And people in that position aren’t apt to give it up — until they wheel them out.”
Ok, can we pause for a minute?
A 12-year-old kid just stood up to school officials so he could keep a patch on his backpack. But we have grown men – elected leaders – wishing to remain anonymous after McConnell has his second medical breakdown on TV.
Capitol attending physician Dr. Brian P. Monahan reported that he consulted with McConnell spoke with his medical team and cleared the Senate Minority Leader to continue his schedule.
“After evaluating yesterday’s incident, I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned,” Monahan said. “Occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration.”
Below is a picture of Monahan that tells you everything you need to know.

Joe also thinks Mitch is just fine.
“Do you have any concerns about McConnell’s ability to do his job?”
BIDEN: “No, I don’t.”
