MSNBC’s John Heilemann and Russell Brand both appeared on Bill Mahr’s show, and it did not go well for the liberal commentator. Brand claimed that MSNBC has no right to condemn Fox News because of the bias of the liberal network.
Brand pointed out that MSNBC was just as biased as its conservative counterpart, if not more, and lectured Heilemann. He pointed to the networks’ close affiliations with BlackRock, Pfizer, and Vanguard as evidence of their own brand of “corporate-driven propaganda.”
“It’s disingenuous to claim that the biases they’ve exhibited on Fox News are any different from the biases exhibited on MSNBC,” Brand said. “It’s difficult to suggest that these corporations operate as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners in Black Rock and Vanguard.”
Heilemann demanded that Brand give him examples of MSNBC showing extreme biases and Brand unloaded.
Heilemann said, “I’d like to hear a specific example—approval—specific example of an MSNBC correspondent or anchor, being on television saying something they knew was false and were saying behind the scenes to people this is, ‘I’m about to go out’ and ‘we know, that we know that the election wasn’t stolen, but I will go I will go out on television and say the opposite.'”
Brand criticized MSNBC host Rachel Maddow for her coverage of alternative COVID-19 treatments, claiming that she deliberately referred to the drug Ivermectin as
“horse medicine.” He also said that Maddow had told her audience, “if you take this vaccine, you’re not gonna get it.”
John Heilemann’s only defense was that Brand’s claims were a false equivalency.
Brand replied, “Do you want an example? The ludicrous, outrageous criticisms of Joe Rogan around ivermectin, who were deliberately referring to it as a horse medicine when they knew it was an effective medicine.”
Heilemann started repeating “nonresponsive” as Maher interjected, “that’s not a bad example.”
It was a brutal tongue-lashing.
