Republicans in Nashville didn’t just infuriate Democrats. They even got Obama to jump in.
Recently a group of activists stormed into the Nashville state legislature leading a mob of protestors with a bullhorn.
What happened next is called an “extraordinary act of political retaliation.”
On April 6, the Tennessee State Legislature took the extraordinary step of expelling two Democratic lawmakers in what appears to be an act of political retaliation. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were booted from the House chamber following a protest calling for more gun control in the aftermath of a deadly school shooting in Nashville. Republicans choked by allowing Rep. Gloria Johnson who was save by one vote.

The decision to expel has been met with outrage and accusations of racism, as Democrats are accusing Republicans of targeting the two Black lawmakers for their role in the protest. GOP leaders, however, deny that race was a factor in the decision, citing that the trio had “effectively conducted a mutiny.”
The Republicans clearly got the Democrat’s attention.
President Joe Biden has also weighed in on the issue, calling the expulsions “shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent.” He went on to say that rather than debating the merits of the issue, Republican lawmakers have chosen to “punish, silence, and expel duly-elected representatives of the people of Tennessee.”
The event even got Barack Obama to comment.
You know they’re really mad when they fire up the Obama. Republicans actually scored points today! https://t.co/4MsLNE4LDY

The media lost their minds as well.
“This is going to continue to energize younger voters. It’s going to energize Black voters going into ’24. It’s going to energize everybody that Republicans don’t want to energize.” —@joenbc on the expulsion of two Black Tennessee lawmakers pic.twitter.com/yXq3YzAcd3

They are scared, remember, even though Republicans in Wisconsin lost the Supreme Court race, they got a supermajority in the state legislature. They can pass, impeach, or overturn a veto anytime they want.

If you think Democrats are mad now, just wait for this to happen…
