Congressional Republicans are shocked and commenting about Speaker Johnson’s recent announcement.
Recently, Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX) infuriated some of his colleagues after he trashed the base.
“I served 20 years in the military. It’s my absolute honor to be in Congress, but I serve with some real scumbags,” Gonzales railed on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.
He accused Congressman Matt Gaetz of having inappropriate relations with minors (despite the Biden DOJ dropping the case) and slurred other members of Congress.

Gonzales was just on CNN calling Gaetz a pedo.
Wow. @mattgaetz you should sue for defamation. pic.twitter.com/EMFCzLfdtf

“To have the speaker be in San Antonio campaigning for Tony … I’m just beside myself that that’s where things are,” Rep. chip Roy (R-TX) told San Antonio radio station KTSA.
“I’m being attacked. Conservatives are being attacked. Bob Good, the chairman of the Freedom Caucus, is being attacked by Tony,” Roy said. “Yeah, I cannot tolerate what’s happening to the people that I think are standing up for this country.”
The fundraiser brought in about $300,000.
“I have no problem with [Johnson] campaigning alongside Turncoat [Gonzales],” Gaetz wrote on X. “But why is this gathering just for donors willing to fork over the $300k Tony bragged about?”
“Everyone should see them campaigning together,” the Florida Republican added. “The great Johnson/Gonzales duo for more Ukraine funding surely wants to explain to Texans how much debt their grandkids should assume to repatriate Crimea.”
His opponantent Brandon Herrera, known as “the AK Guy” on his YouTube channel and Trump supporter said, “there could not be a clearer example of a David vs Goliath fight. While Tony and the establishment are raising millions of dollars through big donors, PACs and private parties, we’re out talking directly to the people. It’s the establishment against grassroots, plain and simple.”
