The Olympic games have been making headlines for better or worse since they started.
After about seven days American politics have now crawled in.
Simone Biles, the highly acclaimed gymnast, has just clinched her second gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This is the sixth of her career, won in the individual all-around event. Biles continues to impress and solidify her self-proclaimed status as the GOAT.
it was a great performance especially after what took place after the games in Japan. Biles was coming back from the Larry Nassar scandal and was dealing with injuries.
However, now things appear to be getting political.
The context here is that she was responding to a comment from Ricky Davila, a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia. Davila had tweeted: “Simone Biles being the GOAT, winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job.”

The social media post seems to be a response to remarks made by former President Donald Trump during a speech at the National Associate of Black Journalists convention. Trump reportedly said, “I will tell you that coming from the border, are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs.”
That comment had the media flipping out.
April Ryan: Why Would NABJ Allow Trump To Speak? For Clout?https://t.co/spdouaKj8A
>My chest hurt the whole time. It was shock and awe.
>What was this for? For showing clout? Was this really for journalism? Or was this to pop your collar, “I can get a presidential candidate?” pic.twitter.com/MZFsRWLXIC

The interview at the NABJ started incredibly hostile and the former president sparred with ABC News reporter Rachel Scott.
ABC’s Rachel Scott opens her interview with President Trump at the NABJ conference by calling him a racist for criticizing black politicians and journalists.
