The U.S. Secret Service has issued a strong statement after the shooting that took place at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Have they come clean with all the mistakes they made? No.
Have they explained why the heck a guy was able to get on a roof? No.
But they are mad, and they have something to say.
The Secret Service is defending the actions of its female agents following the backlash they faced from conservative social media after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Saturday. The agency condemned the criticism as baseless and reaffirmed its commitment to diversity in recruiting, emphasizing that it enhances rather than hinders the effectiveness of their protective teams.
This response comes after a wave of derogatory comments from conservative pundits and influencers, who questioned the qualifications of Kimberly Cheatle, the Secret Service director, and the capabilities of female agents assigned to Trump. These critics suggested that the Secret Service should revert to being all-male, a practice abandoned since 1970.
Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service’s chief of communication, whined, stating, “We stand united against any attempt to discredit our personnel and their invaluable contributions to our mission and are appalled by the disparaging and disgusting comments against any of our personnel.” He emphasized that all agents are highly trained and capable, and dismissed the gender-based criticisms as an insult to the professionalism and expertise of the workforce.
Highly trained?
Really?
The one agent couldn’t get her gun in the holster because she was stressed. Gender has nothing to do with this. It’s a lack of muscle memory and training. Clearly, she was not trained appropriately.
Second, there was another female agent who jumped right on former president Trump like a boss. However, when he stood up she clearly wasn’t tall enough to cover Trump. Again is it a good idea to an agent that says 5′ 6″ (regardless of gender) on a detail protecting a 6′ 3″ man?
What is hell is going on here? I’ve never seen secrete service allow a victim to stand up on stage to wave to the crowd. They’re trained to get Trump moving & off the stage asap another shooter & he’s gone particularly as they’ve put the shortest agent in front of Trump https://t.co/REfTEYhOQE

The incident at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, left Trump with a wound to his right ear. Despite intense scrutiny over the Secret Service’s failure to prevent the gunman from getting close enough to shoot, the focus on female agents has been particularly harsh. Critics have used various media to ridicule their performance, suggesting that diversity efforts have compromised the agency’s effectiveness.
Look at the person in the left. This is not how a @USSecretService agent must react. Hiding instead of protecting…too scary for her? pic.twitter.com/610S1SuDfD

With everything this is what the Secret Service wants to complain about?
