Stacey Abrams Brother-In-Law Arrested For Shocking Crime

Jimmie Gardner, the brother-in-law of former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, is facing serious charges of human trafficking, battery, and lewd or lascivious touching of a minor, according to the Office of the State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit in Florida. Gardner, a 57-year-old youth motivational speaker, was arrested in Hillsborough County and is currently held without bond.

The alleged incident occurred at the Renaissance Hotel at International Plaza in Tampa early Friday morning, as reported by Tampa Police. Gardner is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a 16-year-old girl and assaulting her during an altercation. Police state that Gardner met the minor at 1:43 a.m., invited her to his hotel room, and offered to pay her for sex. However, the victim later changed her mind, leading to a verbal and physical dispute where Gardner allegedly placed his hands around her neck.

After the altercation, Gardner left the hotel room, and the victim called 911. Police found the victim at the scene, but Gardner had already departed. He later turned himself in to the Tampa Police District 1 Office and was charged with human trafficking, lewd and lascivious touching of a minor, and battery.

According to the Office of the State Attorney, Gardner had spent 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting two women in West Virginia in 1987 but was later exonerated.

Jimmie Gardner is married to U.S. District Court Judge Leslie Abrams Gardner, who is Stacey Abrams’ sister and was appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2014. Fox News Digital has reached out to both Stacey Abrams and Judge Leslie Abrams Gardner for comment on the situation.
