Target Makes Statement After ‘Emergency’ Meeting Over Clothing Line

Who the heck is their PR people?

The people at Target are either idiots or cowards.

On May 23, 2023, it was reported that Target held an emergency meeting over outrage online about the store’s Pride Collection that was set to be unveiled for Pride month.

Target, which rolled out its Pride Collection at the start of May, is pulling some products from its stores after facing customer backlash, saying it was acting to protect employee safety, the company told Reuters on Tuesday.

Target Corp (TGT.N) is offering more than 2,000 products, including clothing, books, music and home furnishings as part of its Pride Collection. The items include “gender fluid” mugs, “queer all year” calendars and books for children aged 2-8 titled “Bye Bye, Binary,” “Pride 1,2,3” and “I’m not a girl.”

Much of the display will be scaled down and moved to the back of the store.

Following the report, Target released a statement:

“For more than a decade, Target has offered an assortment of products aimed at celebrating Pride Month. Since introducing this year’s collection, we’ve experience threats impacting our team members’ sense of safety and well being wile at work. Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior. Our focus now is on moving forward with our continuing commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and standing with them as we celebrate Pride Month and throughout the year.”

In other words, Target is afraid of turning into Bud Light, and to try and save face, they are claiming the stores are being threatened.

The statement has backfired; those on the right and left are fuming. On the side of the left, they are furious Target is backing down and are seeing right through the statement. Then on the right, conservatives are fuming the company is claiming they’ve been threatened.

Target has seen what’s happened to Disney, and they do not want to end up like Bud Light; however, their statement has already backfired.

 

Target is about to end up like Disney.
