This week’s primetime congressional hearing regarding the events of January 6th, 2021 has been billed as some sort of blockbuster affair by the committee in charge of the affair, but not everyone has yet been convinced.
The reason being, of course, that there are a great many folks on the far right side of the aisle who believe that the actions of those who breached the Capitol were justified, on account of their concerns regarding the security of the 2020 election.
Now, just ahead of the first of these hearings, former President Donald Trump has made an extremely bold statement on the matter.
“January 6th was not simply a protest, it represented the greatest movement in the history of our Country to Make America Great Again,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.
“It was about an Election that was Rigged and Stolen, and a country that was about to go to HELL.”
Trump would go on to suggest that those who were leading these committees against him were “political thugs”.
These statements will almost certainly earn a swift and stern rebuke from the liberal left, as they continue to hang their 2022 midterm hopes on the work of this barely-bipartisan committee.
