Veterans Respond To Congressman’s Ad

We previously reported that Speaker Johnson was taking a trip to Texas.

The trip infuriated conservates and highlighted an intense primary race going on in the Texas 23rd District between establishment rino Tony Gonzales and popular YouTuber Brandon Herrera.

Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX) infuriated some of his colleagues after he trashed the base.

“I served 20 years in the military. It’s my absolute honor to be in Congress, but I serve with some real scumbags,” Gonzales railed on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

He accused Congressman Matt Gaetz of having inappropriate relations with minors (despite the Biden DOJ dropping the case) and slurred other members of Congress.

“To have the speaker be in San Antonio campaigning for Tony … I’m just beside myself that that’s where things are,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) told San Antonio radio station KTSA.

“I’m being attacked. Conservatives are being attacked. Bob Good, the chairman of the Freedom Caucus, is being attacked by Tony,” Roy said. “Yeah, I cannot tolerate what’s happening to the people that I think are standing up for this country.”

Gonzales has pulled out all the greasy, slimy lies to smear Herrera.

The Youtuber is often a guest on the Unsubscribe Podcast, which is mainly hosted by veterans and former law enforcement. The primary host, Eli Cuevas, is a Purple Heart recipient. The podcast is really crude and full of dark military humor.

Recently, Gonzales took a joke that several of the hosts made, including Herrera, and accused him of celebrating vets committing suicide. Then he turned it into a campaign ad.

Unknown to him, Herrera’s friends in the veteran community, including Tim Kennedy, rallied around him and put together an ad.

When it comes to fundraising Gonzales has a massive $1.5 million war chest compared to Herrera’s $300,000. However, Herrera has a enormous internet following and doesn’t have to do a lot of paid ads.

The fact that Johnson coming down to fundraise for Gonzales despite having so much money in the bank is telling. Normally, having the Speaker of the House fundraise for you would be a boost however, after the Ukraine bill it may not have helped.

We tried to find a poll to see where things stand and couldn’t fine one except a veiled hit piece on Herrera in the Texas Tribune. The article said that Herrera is gaining momentum on Gonzales but he’s a really crass 28 year old.
