Acosta Steps Down At CNN

Alright, folks, buckle up because we’ve got another episode of The Jim Acosta Show—except this time, it’s not on CNN, and it’s not in the White House press room. No, this time, it’s Acosta himself who’s the story, and boy, is he making sure everyone knows it.

So here’s the deal: Jim Acosta, the man who built an entire career on shouting questions at Donald Trump, is officially out at CNN. And instead of quietly moving on, he’s doing what Jim Acosta does best—making it all about himself. In a post on his brand-new Substack (yes, because the world desperately needed another Substack newsletter), Acosta made it clear that he’s not going anywhere. In fact, he’s doubling down, launching The Jim Acosta Show—because, of course, it has his name in the title.

Naturally, Acosta used his exit as an opportunity to take another swipe at Trump, writing:

“To President Trump and his allies, you may think you have silenced me. But guess again. ‘The Jim Acosta Show’ is coming soon.”

To which Trump, never one to sit quietly, responded with a full-throttle Truth Social post:

“Jim Acosta, one of the worst and most dishonest reporters in journalistic history, a major sleazebag, has been relegated by CNN Fake News to the Midnight hour, ‘Death Valley,’ because of extraordinarily BAD RATINGS (and no talent!). Word is that he wants to QUIT, and that would be even better. Jim is a major loser who will fail no matter where he ends up. Good luck Jim!”

Acosta, always one for the last word, shot back with: “Looks like somebody has ADS: Acosta Derangement Syndrome.”

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is where we are in 2025—two men, one a former president, the other a former CNN anchor, trading playground insults on social media.

Let’s be clear: Acosta didn’t leave CNN because of some grand journalistic principle. He left because CNN wanted to demote him to the midnight slot—a time reserved for reruns, infomercials, and the occasional insomniac. That’s a long fall from his 10 a.m. show, and instead of swallowing his pride, Acosta did what he does best—played the martyr.

“It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant,” he said in his final CNN broadcast, once again casting himself as the brave warrior standing up to Trump.

And while his liberal fanbase is eating it up, let’s be honest: CNN’s not exactly in mourning over his departure. A network insider put it bluntly: “Look, I think folks liked Jim. But Cuomo went and CNN moved on. Lemon left and CNN moved on.”

Translation? Acosta may think he’s irreplaceable, but CNN has a long track record of cutting loose its biggest personalities and surviving just fine.

So now, Acosta is heading into the world of independent media, where every ex-cable news personality with a microphone and a webcam launches their own show. Will The Jim Acosta Show be the next big thing? Will he finally get the audience he always thought he deserved? Or will he fade into the background, just another voice in an overcrowded media landscape?
