Actor Became Real Life Super Hero But There Was A High Cost

Two-time Oscar nominee and Marvel actor Jeremy Renner, was recently hospitalized after a snowplow accident.

According to an incident report from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Renner had been attempting to stop a snowplow from sliding and hitting his nephew when he was pulled under the vehicle and run over.

His nephew’s truck was stuck in the snow and Renner – most recently known for playing “Hawkeye” in the Marvel movies – was using his tracked Pistenbully snow groomer to get him out.

At some point, while Renner was outside the vehicle, it began to slide toward his nephew, and the actor tried to “stop or divert” the Pistenbully. Sadly, Renner was pulled under by the tracks and run over.

“Once he was off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading directly toward (his nephew),” the report reads. “He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully.”

Law enforcement did report that the brake indicator light inside the cab was not functioning and “mechanical issues may have been a doctor in this accident.”

“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

The brake indicator light inside the snowcat’s cab was not functioning, and “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident,” the report also notes.

Fortunately, his nephew was able to tend to him until help arrived. Renner was airlifted to a hospital near Reno, where it’s reported he underwent several surgeries.

“The Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road,” the report says. “He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene.”

The actor recently took to Instagram to share an update on his recovery, revealing he had broken over 30 bones in the accident. Thankfully, he’s now home and receiving care from medical specialists.

It was a sad accident, as Renner tried to save his nephew he got sucked up. Whenever, you are working with heavy equipment you should always set the parking break because you never know.
