Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is at it again—saying things with the confidence of a seasoned intellectual while lacking even the most basic grasp of reality. This time, she’s taken a swipe at Elon Musk, one of the most successful innovators of the modern era, calling him “dumb” and claiming that he’s somehow personally profiting from the Department of Education’s impending shutdown under President Donald Trump’s administration.
There’s a certain irony in a bartender-turned-politician who’s never built or accomplished anything of significance calling one of the greatest minds of the 21st century stupid. But that’s exactly what makes AOC and her followers so entertaining—they don’t just lack intelligence; they lack the self-awareness to realize how ridiculous they sound.
This may be the most staggeringly foolish thing @aoc has ever said.
And that’s saying something…. https://t.co/JkJLzIqG96

Let’s get something straight. Elon Musk isn’t just some rich guy who lucked into wealth. He is a special government employee (yes, that’s a real category) with a top-secret security clearance granted by none other than the Biden administration. And he’s been working alongside Trump to fulfill a key campaign promise: dismantling wasteful government bureaucracies.
That’s what the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is all about—rooting out corruption, slashing wasteful spending, and shutting down useless agencies. And it turns out, a bloated, ineffective Department of Education is at the top of the list.

AOC and her followers don’t understand this, of course. To them, anyone who challenges the status quo is an “oligarch” trying to “steal money.” They’re convinced that bureaucrats who are paid by the Executive Branch and legally bound to follow Trump’s orders are actually entitled to “resist” him. It’s a stunning level of delusion, but this is exactly what happens when a political movement builds its foundation on social media hot takes rather than actual knowledge.
AOC is a perfect example of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action—where people of low ability consistently overestimate their own intelligence because they lack the expertise to recognize how little they actually know.
This is a woman whose greatest claim to fame before entering politics was a dance video—and yet, she struts around Congress as if she’s an expert in economics, energy policy, and constitutional law.

She’s a product of an elite university system that values ideological conformity over real-world competence. Boston University gave her a degree, but clearly, it failed to educate her. And if USAID had anything to do with subsidizing her time there, that alone should be reason enough to shut it down.
The real issue isn’t AOC herself—it’s the entire media and academic infrastructure that treats her as if she’s a serious political thinker.
The Democratic Party is infested with people like her—David Hogg, mid-wit Ivy League grads, and Twitter activists who believe that a degree from a prestigious university automatically makes them qualified to run the country. But as we’ve seen over and over again, their policies fail, their predictions are laughably wrong, and their understanding of economics is nonexistent.
It’s no wonder that many of the smartest people in the Democratic Party have been quietly leaving over the past few years. They see the writing on the wall: the party is being taken over by halfwits like AOC who believe their own hype but lack the intellect to back it up.
AOC says people don’t have to take to take President Trump’s executive orders “seriously” because “it’s a joke.” pic.twitter.com/W2dKOhEc9g
