Well, here we go again—another episode of political drama in the D.C. soap opera starring some of the usual suspects.
This time, it’s a Pelosi-Biden family feud with Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, tossing some not-so-subtle jabs at First Lady Jill Biden. And let’s be honest: when the political elite start throwing shade at each other in public, you know the pot has been simmering for a while.
So, Alexandra Pelosi decides to chime in on her dad’s old friend Joe Biden, advising Jill Biden (or as she snarkily dubs her, “Lady McBiden”) to, and I quote, “put on [her] big girl pants, play the long game, and think about [her] husband’s legacy.” Ouch. And if you’re Jill Biden, reading that has to sting, especially when Alexandra claims her mother, Nancy Pelosi, is one of the few people left who still has anything nice to say about Joe Biden. That’s a low bar, but here we are.
This whole kerfuffle seems to revolve around the president’s late decision to step aside in his reelection bid. According to the Politico column, Nancy Pelosi tried to gently nudge Joe Biden into bowing out earlier, but his team wasn’t having it. In fact, Pelosi’s efforts were met with a firm “no” from Biden’s advisers. That’s not surprising—Biden has been adamant about his ability to beat Trump again, and it’s clear he doesn’t take kindly to suggestions that he should step aside for the good of the party. But, as we all saw, he eventually did drop out, and now the Dems are left picking up the pieces after Kamala Harris’s disastrous campaign.
Now, let’s talk about Jill Biden’s response. In her Washington Post exit interview, she didn’t hold back her disappointment in how Nancy Pelosi supposedly influenced her husband’s decision. Jill said she had been friends with Pelosi for 50 years, but that didn’t stop her from expressing how “disappointed” she was in how everything “unfolded.” Translation: there’s no love lost between these two powerful women anymore.
What’s fascinating here is how the blame game has kicked into full swing. Pelosi reportedly told her allies that Biden’s team has essentially told her to back off because they’re still holding a grudge. Meanwhile, Biden is out here insisting he could’ve beaten Trump if only he’d stayed in the race. The whole thing feels like a political version of Monday morning quarterbacking, with everyone pointing fingers and second-guessing decisions that can’t be undone.
Here’s the thing: Biden’s legacy, which Jill Biden seems so intent on defending, isn’t looking so hot right now. Between the chaotic exit from Afghanistan, inflation running rampant, and approval ratings stuck in the basement, it’s hard to argue he left the office with a stellar track record. Sure, Jill says she has “confidence” that Joe could’ve served another term, but let’s be real—confidence doesn’t translate into results. Even loyal Democrats were sweating bullets over his declining poll numbers and lack of enthusiasm among key voter groups.
Following this, Chuck Todd unleashed a scathing critique of Jill Biden. He didn’t hold back on Joe Biden either, labeling him an “accidental president.”

Just a little throwback, here’s what Chuck Todd said about Biden almost four years ago as he took office:
And don’t think for a second that Republicans are just sitting back and enjoying the show. The Dems are doing a fine job tearing themselves apart without any outside help. Between Pelosi hinting that Biden should’ve dropped out sooner and Jill Biden fuming about Pelosi’s so-called meddling, it’s a political soap opera gift-wrapped for the GOP. The Democrats are stuck in a blame spiral, and all roads seem to lead back to one man: Joe Biden, the reluctant retiree who insists he could’ve gone the distance.
So grab your popcorn, folks, because this Pelosi-Biden drama is far from over.
