Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has taken decisive action, revoking the security clearances of multiple former Biden administration officials and the 51 former intelligence officials who signed the infamous letter falsely dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop scandal as Russian disinformation.
Gabbard also confirmed that former President Joe Biden will no longer receive the President’s Daily Brief, the highly classified intelligence summary provided to past presidents.
Gabbard made the announcement on Monday via social media, stating:
“Per @POTUS directive, I have revoked security clearances and barred access to classified information for Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, and Andrew Weissmann, along with the 51 signers of the Hunter Biden ‘disinformation’ letter. The President’s Daily Brief is no longer being provided to former President Biden.”
The decision follows an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on his first day back in office, directing the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to strip the signatories of the now-discredited intelligence letter of their security clearances.
In the order, Trump condemned their actions, stating:
“This fabrication of the imprimatur of the Intelligence Community to suppress information essential to the American people during a Presidential election is an egregious breach of trust reminiscent of a third-world country.”
He further accused them of having “willfully weaponized the gravitas of the Intelligence Community to manipulate the political process and undermine our democratic institutions.”
The 51 intelligence officials, including former CIA Directors James Clapper and John Brennan, signed a public letter in October 2020 dismissing the Hunter Biden laptop as likely Russian disinformation—despite having no evidence to support that claim.
The letter was widely circulated in the media and used to justify Big Tech’s suppression of the New York Post’s reporting on the laptop—an action that critics argue directly interfered with the 2020 election.
Antony Blinken, who was not a signatory of the letter, is still included in the security clearance revocation. His role in orchestrating the letter was revealed in congressional testimony by former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell, who admitted that Blinken—then a Biden campaign adviser—called him days after the laptop story broke, prompting him to draft the letter that framed the scandal as Russian interference.
Another significant move was the termination of Biden’s access to the President’s Daily Brief (PDB). Typically, former presidents retain limited access to classified intelligence, though Trump was denied the same courtesy by the Biden administration.
By blocking Biden from receiving intelligence reports, the Trump administration has made it clear that they view him as an untrustworthy actor who no longer needs access to sensitive national security information.
