Ilhan Omar’s Husband Claims ‘No Concerns’ While Feds Raid Home

The most surprising fact here is that Ilhan Omar’s husband insists he has ‘no concerns’ even as federal agents raided their home. This happened right after Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents searched their Washington, D.C., residence. Tim Mynett told Fox News Digital that he feels fine despite the criminal probe into her immigration paperwork.

Yet the same day Mynett spoke, the New York Times reported that federal subpoenas went out to Omar’s relatives. At least two family members received these legal orders, including her sister, Sahra Noor. The investigation focuses on possible false statements in the paperwork that got Omar into the United States. Two sources close to the probe told Fox News Digital that the search formed part of a continuing criminal investigation.

Why does a federal raid happen now? The answer may lie in a simple math problem about birth years. For years, public records listed Omar’s birth year as 1981. But emails show her congressional staff asked the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library to change it to 1982 in May 2019. The library director confirmed the request in writing, adding that her team reached out to Wikipedia and the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress.

This one-year shift is critical to her story. Omar claims she became a naturalized citizen through her father when she was 17. If she had arrived in 1981, she would have reached age 18 or 19 at the time her father naturalized in 2000. That would make her ineligible for derivative citizenship as a minor. As Andrew Kolvet noted on X, “one year is the difference between her citizenship story working and not”

Being born in 1982 ensures she remained under 18 during the year 2000, aligning with her story. But the original 1981 date appeared on the library’s website during her entire time in the Minnesota House. The library director admitted the original entry had no supporting documentation like a birth certificate. The effort to fix the date started months after she entered Congress, following a video from a political opponent questioning her age.

The scrutiny goes beyond just dates. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced her office is investigating Omar’s financial disclosures too. Mynett business interests valued between $6 million and $30 million were listed in her 2024 filing. Omar’s office later said those figures were wrong and amended the filing to show values under $100,000.

The largest change involved Mynett’s assets. His ownership in a winery and a venture capital firm, once worth millions, now show no value in the documents. Omar continues to deny any immigration fraud while her relatives face subpoenas. She posted on X that this is an attempt to “target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.”

Despite her claims of political persecution, the facts show a specific pattern of corrections. Her staff worked to fix her birth year on multiple sites. According to The New York Post, the library director wrote emails confirming these requests. The director stated, “Rep. Omar’s congressional staff are working with Wikipedia and with the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress and other sources to correct her birth year on those sites”

Mynett remains calm in the face of these actions. “My wife came here when she was 12 years old as a child war refugee,” he told Fox News Digital. He added simply, “No concerns.” But the law does not care about calm statements when documents are under review.

Agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant, according to confirmation from the Justice Department. This was not a casual visit; it was a criminal investigation into her immigration pathway. The subpoenas sent to her sister and others suggest the probe is widening. Omar says she will not be silenced, but the federal government is asking hard questions.

One thing is clear: the timeline matters more than the rhetoric. If she was born in 1981, her citizenship claim falls apart. If she was born in 1982, it holds. Her staff knew the 1981 date was on the record and worked to change it. Now, federal agents are looking for the truth behind the dates and the money.
