There has been a lot of buzz since President Biden announced that he was withdrawing from the race and threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris.
While some Democrats urged a systematic contest or refrained from endorsing anyone, it seemed that the majority of potential challengers within the party quickly fell into line.
Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat from California, expressed his support for Harris on Sunday. He described her as “Tough, fearless, tenacious.” Newsom voiced his belief that no one was better equipped to guide our country in a healthier direction than Vice President Kamala Harris.
Following Newsom’s endorsement was Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat from Michigan. Whitmer endorsed Kamala Harris for President, praising her for her ability to strengthen the economy and her history as an ex-prosecutor. She also emphasized Harris’ advocacy for reproductive freedom.
Governor J. B. Pritzker, a Democrat from Illinois, also joined on Monday in endorsing Harris. Pritzker cited Harris as the party’s best hope of defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming November election, expressing his belief that it’s time to break the highest and hardest of glass ceilings by electing a woman as President.
Several other high-profile Democratic Governors have also backed Harris. These include Wes Moore of Maryland, Roy Cooper of North Carolina, and Andy Beshear of Kentucky.
It’s notable that all of the top Democrats fell in line after a story broke that Pelosi basically gave Biden an ultimatum and there are other reports that Democrats would have invoked the 25th Amendment if he refused to step down.

It’s no wonder they all fell in line. However, Whitmer said something interesting when she was asked if she’d be interested in running with Kamala.
Whitmer said that she was staying in Michigan hinting that even though she fell in line, she had no wish to be part of the drama soon to be the Kamala Harris campaign.
