President Donald Trump traveled to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Wednesday to attend a dignified transfer ceremony honoring four U.S. service members killed during the conflict with Iran.
Before departing the White House aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters the visit was intended to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in service to the country.

“We’re going to Dover,” Trump said. “Some of you are going with us, to honor our heroes, and they are indeed great heroes, actually.”
The president also reflected on the broader mission for which the service members served.
“They said, and they—all of them said very strongly—we can’t let, we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. They won’t have a nuclear weapon. So we’re going to honor them,” Trump said.
According to CBS News, the four service members honored during the ceremony were Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Hawaii; Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Texas; Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, of New York; and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of North Carolina.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine also attended the ceremony alongside the president and the families of the fallen.
Later in the day, Trump spoke about the experience during a campaign event in Georgia, describing the solemn responsibility of participating in dignified transfers.
“I think it’s the toughest thing I do of anything I do,” Trump said. “I do all this stuff, but I think it’s the toughest thing I do.”

Trump noted that Feehan’s parents and uncle traveled with him aboard Air Force One after the ceremony because they were headed to Georgia. During the event, he recognized the Gold Star family from the stage and asked the audience to honor their sacrifice.
According to CBS News, Feehan and Gonzales were killed in action during attacks on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
The Pentagon had initially listed Rampersad as missing in action. U.S. Central Command later updated her status to “whereabouts unknown” before concluding that she is believed to have been killed in the same attack.

Swinton, who was the father of two children, was killed at Erbil Air Base in northern Iraq during the detonation of an Iranian drone, according to CBS News.
