Patel Declassifies Document Amid Whistleblower

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is facing explosive new allegations after the release of a declassified FBI report claims he approved leaking classified information in an effort to damage President Donald Trump.

The document — a 302 report obtained by Just The News and recently handed to Congress by FBI Director Kash Patel — cites a Democratic whistleblower who says Schiff personally authorized the leak during a House Intelligence Committee staff meeting in 2017.

According to the whistleblower, who worked for Democrats on the committee for over a decade, Schiff’s directive to leak sensitive material was met with warnings that it would be “illegal” and “treasonous.” The staffer alleges other participants in the meeting dismissed those concerns, reassuring colleagues that they “would not be caught” leaking the information.

The whistleblower reportedly reiterated the allegations during an FBI interview in 2023. The report describes the source as a longtime committee insider who was in the room when Schiff allegedly “greenlit” the plan.

The revelations come amid broader scrutiny of the now-discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative. The leak allegations — if substantiated — could represent a significant breach of protocol and law, with potential criminal implications. Schiff, who was a leading public voice pushing the collusion claims, has not yet publicly responded to the newly released report.

Critics have long accused Schiff of politicizing classified intelligence to score partisan points, with some Republicans labeling him unfit to handle sensitive national security matters. Supporters have defended his tenure as chairman of the Intelligence Committee as a necessary check on the Trump administration.

The report also revives claims about Schiff’s role in coordinating with the whistleblower whose complaint helped spark Trump’s first impeachment. While those accusations have been contested, the new FBI record adds fresh detail to a long-running political feud.

At the time of the alleged leak meeting, Schiff was seen by some Democrats as a potential candidate to lead the CIA under a Hillary Clinton administration — a role that evaporated when Trump won the presidency in 2016.
