BuzzFeed “reported” (read: tried to dox) that Sydney Sweeney, the 27-year-old actress who’s been dominating headlines for her wildly successful American Eagle campaign, is a registered Republican in Florida. They even tracked down the registration date — June 2024 — which, surprise, lines up with when Sweeney reportedly bought a $13.5 million home in Summerland Key. They didn’t just report it. They framed it like a scandal, like they were “outing” her.
And right on cue, the online mob pounced. One X user screeched, “She pretends to stand with women, yet votes against their rights and freedoms.” Others moaned that Sweeney will now be “used as a poster child” for conservative beliefs, and some flat-out said they “hate her.”

This is the game. They can’t cancel American Eagle — because the ad campaign is a smash success and sold out its product — so now they’re going after the face of it. And it’s the same tired playbook they tried on her in 2022 when she threw her mom a 60th birthday party with guests wearing “Make 60 Great Again” hats. They tried to make it political then, too. She shut them down: “Please stop making assumptions.”

Sweeney hasn’t commented on the BuzzFeed hit piece, her voter registration, or the backlash — and frankly, she shouldn’t. She doesn’t owe the mob an explanation.
Let’s get real: the freakout isn’t about her political affiliation. It’s about her refusing to play by the new Hollywood rules. She’s blonde, beautiful, all-American, unapologetically feminine — and now, apparently, a Republican. In the eyes of the far Left, that makes her radioactive.

But here’s the thing — Sweeney doesn’t cave. She didn’t cave in 2022. She didn’t cave over the “Nazi propaganda” insanity surrounding the jeans ad. And if she holds the line again, she just might do something bigger than model denim: prove that the mob’s power is all bark and no bite.
