Rubio Issues Statement About USAID

The battle over USAID has officially escalated, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio isn’t backing down. Just days after President Trump appointed him as acting head of the agency, Rubio is calling out rank insubordination within the organization, accusing USAID of operating as an unaccountable global charity rather than an arm of the U.S. government.

And he’s not wrong.

Speaking to Fox News’ Rich Edson, Rubio didn’t mince words.

“Now we have basically an active effort — their basic attitude is, ‘We don’t work for anyone, we work for ourselves. No agency of government can tell us what to do,’” he said.

That’s a staggering admission about a government agency that exists purely on taxpayer money. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Rubio revealed that U.S. diplomats and foreign leaders alike have been complaining for years about USAID undermining America’s broader diplomatic efforts.

“One of the most common complaints you will get if you go to embassies around the world from State Department officials and ambassadors and the like is USAID is not only not cooperative — they undermine the work that we’re doing in that country.”

So let’s get this straight:

  • USAID isn’t following orders from the U.S. government.
  • They’re funding programs that actively harm relationships with foreign governments.
  • They think they have the authority to spend American tax dollars however they see fit.

And now that Trump and Rubio are cleaning house, Democrats and the deep state are in full panic mode.

Rubio’s reforms are hitting a nerve—so much so that Democrats are throwing tantrums outside USAID headquarters.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) led a failed attempt to storm the building, accusing Trump and Elon Musk of “illegal, unconstitutional interference.”

“We don’t have a fourth branch of government called ‘Elon Musk,’ and that’s going to become real clear,” Raskin declared at a press conference after he was blocked from entering the building.

Translation: The left is furious that USAID can no longer act as their personal slush fund.

And why wouldn’t they be? USAID has long been a goldmine for pushing radical left-wing policies across the world—funding everything from DEI initiatives in Serbia to transgender comic books in Peru.

For years, they operated without oversight—until Trump, Musk, and Rubio pulled the plug.

Now, the same Democrats who cheered every time a federal judge blocked Trump’s executive orders are suddenly discovering the Constitution.

Legal challenges are already being prepared, with activists arguing that freezing USAID’s funding is “unconstitutional.”

Of course, there’s nothing unconstitutional about it. Trump has every right to review, reform, or even dissolve USAID if it’s acting against American interests—which it clearly is.

And as for the Democrats’ cries that “lives are at stake” because USAID is being reined in? Spare us the theatrics.

If they were truly concerned about lives being threatened, they wouldn’t have spent the last decade funneling millions into activist nonsense instead of actual humanitarian aid.
