On a recent episode of The Source on CNN, host Kaitlan Collins had a heated exchange with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about whether he will accept the 2024 election results if President Joe Biden wins. During the show, Collins asked Cruz if he would accept the 2024 election results, no matter who wins.
Cruz responded by saying it was a ridiculous question and pointed out that he was present during the peaceful transfer of power on January 20, despite the events of January 6. He argued that Democrats have also objected to election results in the past, referring to the 2000 and 2016 presidential elections. However, Collins noted that in those instances, the losing candidates had already conceded.
Collins asked, “Do you plan to object or will you accept the results regardless of who wins the election?”
There was a lot of back-and-forth and Cruz gave Collins a history lesson.
“I tried to look through history and precedent, and the best precedent I could find was the election of 1876 between Rutherford B Hayes and Samuel Tilden,” Cruz said. “And what happened there? There were serious allegations of voter fraud. Congress didn’t throw its hands up and say, you know what? CNN demanded that, accept the results no matter what. So ignore the fraud. What did Congress do in 1876? How did the president handle it? What did Congress do in 1876? You can’t answer. Can you answer my question? Why are you refusing to answer my question?”
She could not and refused to answer the question.
Despite the back-and-forth, Cruz eventually stated, “Look, if the Democrats win, I will accept the result, but I’m not gonna ignore fraud.”
Here would be a good time to mention that Collins is only famous because of Donald Trump. Yup, she became popular following Trump around for the Daily Caller after he announced running in 2015. When Trump was elected she was promoted to become the DC’s White House correspondent then CNN poached her (she cashed in on the money).
