Todd Blanche Says Ilhan Omar Gets Rights Trump Was Denied

Attorney General Todd Blanche made a sharp point on Tuesday. He told the host of “Pod Force One” that Rep. Ilhan Omar is allowed to speak freely about her legal troubles. This is a right Donald Trump was denied when he faced four criminal indictments. The contrast came during a new interview on October 14, 2026.

Blanche served as Trump’s personal lawyer during those hard legal times. He could not share details of the new case against Omar. But he drew a clear line between the two situations. As far as [Omar’s] remarks go, she stated that silencing her is not their plan, correct? We’re not trying to keep her quiet, Blanche told host Miranda Devine. The New York Post reported the exchange.

President Donald Trump did not mince words on Tuesday either. He spoke from the Oval Office about the federal investigation into Omar’s citizenship. He said she could face jail time or deportation. “Well, she could be. She could also go to jail,” Trump said. He was answering a question from FOX Business correspondent Edward Lawrence. During that same exchange, the President labeled the Minnesota Democrat “a disgrace to our country”.

This comes after federal agents searched her home in Washington, D.C., on October 12. They took her cellphone and other items. The probe looks at claims she or her father lied about her birth year on immigration papers. Trump added, “This is just my opinion,” before calling her a dishonest person who hates the nation. Fox News covered these remarks.

Blanche pushed back against claims that the government is being unfair to the Squad. He accused Democrats of “gaslighting the American people” when they say the Justice Department is weaponized against them. He pointed to the past actions of the Biden administration. He noted that a New York attorney general tried to destroy Trump and his family. “I don’t think, I know, the American people see right through that,” Blanche said. He described Trump as frustrated and angry but never broken during those years.

The political firestorm is not limited to Omar. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) warned that people working for the Trump Administration could face prosecution. She called this a “deterrence message.” Trump responded sharply to her comments on October 20, 2026. Slotkin argued that prosecuting individuals is necessary to deter others from entering politics. Trump remarked that this was typical behavior from a Democrat. RedState reported on this sharp rebuttal.

Slotkin also suggested the administration might create a fake national security crisis. She claimed this would happen right before the election. “Right in the last two weeks of the election, they somehow come up with a national security incident that only they can protect us from,” she said. A clip shared by reporter Sam Robinson captured her words. The investigation into Omar continues as the evidence is reviewed by the bureau.
