MSNBC Cncels Joy Reid’s Show

Well, folks, it finally happened—Joy Reid is out.

MSNBC is axing The ReidOut, marking the end of one of cable news’ most divisive programs. After years of spewing unhinged anti-Trump rhetoric, pushing conspiracy theories, and lashing out at anyone who didn’t fit her narrative, The ReidOut is officially done.

Now, this isn’t just a minor schedule change—this is a major shakeup at MSNBC. Reid’s 7 p.m. ET slot will now go to a panel show featuring Symone Sanders-Townsend (yes, the former mouthpiece for Kamala Harris), Michael Steele (who MSNBC keeps around to pretend they have a “Republican” voice), and Alicia Menendez (whose biggest claim to fame is being the daughter of disgraced, indicted Sen. Bob Menendez). In other words, more of the same, just with different faces.

But it doesn’t stop there—MSNBC is shuffling the deck across its entire lineup. New network president Rebecca Kutler is overseeing the changes, with reports suggesting Jen Psaki—Biden’s former press secretary—will be given more airtime. Alex Wagner, who was already demoted when Rachel Maddow decided she only wanted to work one day a week, is reportedly being sidelined even further.

And why is all of this happening? Simple: Ratings.

Joy Reid’s numbers have been collapsing. The ReidOut averaged only 973,000 viewers in February 2025—a 28% drop from the previous year. The writing was on the wall: MSNBC viewers, already a niche group, were tuning out.

Frankly, this should have happened years ago. Joy Reid built her career on pure race-baiting, Trump-bashing, and flat-out falsehoods. She famously blamed White women for Trump’s 2024 victory, saying Black women had “lost interest in saving America.” She compared Trump’s immigration policies to the Holocaust. And who could forget her wild 2018 scandal, when she falsely claimed that hackers planted homophobic comments on her old blog? She even pretended the FBI was investigating—only to backtrack when the lie fell apart.

Despite all of this, MSNBC kept her on air, doubling down on radicalism. But now, even they can’t justify it anymore.

The bigger picture? MSNBC is desperate. They know Comcast is planning to spin off several of its NBCUniversal cable networks, including MSNBC. That means MSNBC will no longer be able to leech off NBC News’ resources—it will be forced to stand on its own. So, what’s their solution? More of the same tired left-wing talking points, just packaged differently.

The ReidOut may be gone, but don’t expect MSNBC to actually learn anything. They’re still bringing in Kamala Harris’ former PR flack. They’re still elevating the likes of Psaki. They’re still clinging to the same tired narrative. The network’s days of pretending to be a legitimate news outlet are long over.

So, farewell, Joy Reid. After years of dividing Americans and pushing nonsense, MSNBC finally decided you weren’t worth keeping around. Not because of your rhetoric—MSNBC loves that—but because, in the end, even their audience stopped caring what you had to say.
