Casey DeSantis Sends The Left Into A Fury

Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis made a bold political fashion statement at the presidential campaign rally on Saturday, wearing a black leather jacket with the words “Where woke goes to die” and an outline of the state of Florida and an alligator on its back.

The fashion statement was in support of her husband, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ platform to end “woke” ideology. DeSantis, 44, reinforced his commitment during a speech to supporters at the event.

“We will wage war on the woke,” DeSantis said. “We will fight the woke in education; we will fight the woke in corporations; we will fight in the halls of Congress.

The statement sparked comparisons to former First Lady Melania Trump’s controversial jacket worn on a 2018 visit to detained migrant children. The back of the green Zara hooded jacket read “I really don’t care do u?”. The meaning behind the message inspired much speculation.

This week’s event in Des Moines was hosted by Sen. Joni Ernst’s Annual Motorcycle-Themed Fundraiser at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Governor DeSantis joined eight other GOP candidates, such as former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Former President Trump did not attend the event.

The jacket sent the left into a fury.

Executive Editor Katie Baker at the Daily Beast wrote a raging piece directed at Florida’s First Lady and still seemed to conjure up some Trump derangement syndrome as well.

Baker claimed that Melania’s coat was at least cryptic but was furious over DeSantis’ choice.

Baker wrote:

Casey DeSantis’ coat is just like her husband Ron DeSantis’ campaign: Crude. Grasping. Saying the ugly part out loud. Whereas Trump would wink-wink at the fascists—who can forget his dog whistle to the “very fine people on both sides” at Charlottesville—DeSantis wants to peel off Trump’s base by being even more explicit about who he intends to target. You can see it right there on his wife’s jacket: DeSantis’ Florida is where the woke go to die.

Now just listen to the anger along with the Trump derangement syndrome:

We are seeing clues to who the DeSantis’ are at heart. We’ve got a Sunshine State Lady Macbeth, in her green cape and white gloves, with her middling husband and her thirst for the crown—and we’ve got a guy who wants to be sitting in a corner, mumbling about the Federalist Papers and gobbling pudding off his fingers.

Trump would never eat pudding with anything other than a gold spoon—while pressing the button for his 20th Diet Coke of the day and trying to bomb Iran on a whim. Put another way, Trump is the danger of raw, chaotic id. DeSantis, meanwhile, is the little jerk who’s going to make all of us pay for how he had no friends in third grade, or whatever his particular villain origin story is.

What Baker did is similar to what the left has done to all strong conservative women.

They’ve ridiculed Gov. Kristi Noem, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Lauren Boebert, MTG, and Former First Lady Melania Trump (the epitome of class) because they don’t fit the narrative.
